Portobello Markets is an obvious ‘to do’ list item when visiting London. Hell! I live here now and still find I need to visit it at least once a month. I am actually writing from Portobello rd now (Thursday afternoon) and it is lovely and quiet. On the weekends though it can become HAVOC as you find yourself weaseling down the road. Trying to find a seat in a coffee shop can been equally as tedious.
I have only just discovered Golborne Rd, which is at the very end of Portobello Rd and has a great vibe and some really lovely coffee joints. I don’t think lots of people know about it, so let’s keep this one low key 😉
So Golborne Rd is situated at the very north of Portobello Road, further than most tourists usually make it. With lots of bric-a-brac, treasure/trash stalls, Morrocan & Portugese grocery shops, as well as really great furniture shops, it’s very much Notting Hill for locals.
Golborne Deli is a cute Italian cafe that is an absolute FIND. It is my ‘go to’ cafe now. The setting is delightful with extensive outdoor seating for sunny mornings. The service is attentive without being overbearing and the menu is extensive yet familiar. I usually get the granola with greek yogurt, blueberries and banana. Great prices top the whole deal off. 5 stars.
Where? Golborne Deli, 100 Golborne Rd London, UK
Opening Hours: 7:30am-6:30pm
